In the summer of 2018, PING debuted the i210 and i500. The elastomer insert in the i210 (replaced the i200 iron) is twice as soft and 30% larger than its predecessor. Players can expect a soft, pleasing feel on shots struck across more of the face. More mass in the perimeter of the head makes the i210 more forgiving. The i500 is constructed like a metal wood (hollow stainless steel body and maraging-steel face), which is the same material in G410 fairway woods and hybrids. At impact, the clubface flexes like a wood, which results in faster ball speeds and longer shots than previous models. Both the i500 and i210 have a milled face and grooves as well as the HydroPearl Chrome 2.0 finish (rough face texture and smooth on the sole) to improve shot consistency from imperfect lies. And, for the first time, PING irons are available in three different loft packages: Standard, Power Spec (stronger-than-standard) and Retro Spec (weaker-than-standard).
